Spray drying is a common technology in the world of food processing. However, this drying technology is rather costly, both from an investment as well as energy point of view. Are you interested in lowering your energy bill? Without lowering your drying output? Then read more about our NIZO Vacuum Drum Drier. We developed this machine in close cooperation with a leading supplier of drum driers, Royal Goudse Machine Fabriek (GMF). This vacuum drum drier will become available for testing in the Spring of 2012.
Vacuum drum drying is a mild drying technology for foods and ingredients. It is a contact drier, using a low heat source while drying. The product evaporation itself is done under low pressure. Similar to spray drying, a large array of powders can be produced. For example various grade of milk ingredients, soy powder, and protein powder, but also complex products such as hygroscopic products and products that cause a lot of fouling.
The design of our Vacuum drum drier has been changed considerably compared to conventional high temperature drum driers. The test machine available is flexible and can be used for drying under various conditions.
The vacuum drum drier offers good sustainability possibilities, as it lowers the energy bill of drying.
The vacuum drum drier is based on previous trials with clients in dairy, meat, agriculturals, nutraceuticals, babyfood and food ingredients. For testing this vacuum drum drier, a number of clients has already booked for tests in NIZO’s food grade processing center. Be in time to test your product!
