When I assisted my grandfather, as a 5 year old kid, at his farm by milking cows and feeding the calves, the fascination for my future orientation in food and agriculture was born.
Ever since I have been very interested in the use of agricultural raw materials for food and ingredients. The use of science and technology to convert the greatness of what nature provides us with into food and ingredients for the benefit of us all is a fascinating challenge.
How to feed the world, in a sustainable way, is a task and a responsibility for the food industry. And I am very much committed to assisting the feed, food and dairy industries to take that role.
After finishing my studies as an agricultural engineer and as a biologist (University of Groningen; Wageningen UR PhD), I worked on post-harvest physiology and managed research and development for food processing for over 15 years.
Thereafter I became business manager at NIZO food research assisting food, ingredient and dairy industries to identify and realize innovation.
