Pre-competitive research programs, usually subsidized, enable NIZO to operate in the forefront of scientific discovery in selected strategic areas. Scientific findings can subsequently be applied to the benefit of individual food and ingredient companies. Three examples of such collaborations are NIZO’s participation in the Platform for Industrial Fermentations (Kluyver), Top Institute Food and Nutrition (TIFN) and Diogenes program. |
ApplicationAlready since the foundation of NIZO the philosophy was that science should be able to lead to the next level of products and processes. Application of the typical research projects into your products has therefore key attention. With the installation of our Food Application Centre in 2008 NIZO is fully equipped to handle basically all food types. |

ProductionThe largest food-grade pilot plant in Europe open to the entire food and ingredient industry is available to scale-up your (new) process, produce test products for market and/or nutritional intervention trials, and even take over entire production of certain ingredients and/or products (toll manufacturing). NIZO aims to avoid unnecessary inefficient use of your commercial production sites. |
