Our Health department provides tailored support to companies which are seeking to identify the mechanism of action or to substantiate health benefits of their food ingredient or products. Our focus is on benefits in gut health and immunity, and the role of the gut microbiota. Our research models include in vitro cell assays, as well as clinical trials. 

To expand our team, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic.

 Senior Scientist Immunology, Nutrition and Health

 Our ideal candidate has a PhD degree with a scientific track record in Immunology, with 5+ years of working experience in a contract research organization (CRO) or industrial environment (food or pharma), and fulfills the requirements listed below. You describe yourself as a dedicated, proactive and creative professional, with a passion for finding and applying scientific solutions in the food and health industry. 

The position 

NIZO, as a CRO, positions itself as research partner for multinationals and highly promising start-ups alike. As a scientist for NIZO you will engage with these customers to interpret customer questions on a scientific-technical level. After identifying the customer need you will translate this into a high-quality, result-oriented project approach. 

After the project has been approved you will be responsible for the scientific supervision, interpretation and reporting of in vitro studies, and for the immunological expertise in clinical trials. You will also be in the lead in developing new in vitro research approaches, allowing us to address specific customer needs.

 To guarantee success scientists within NIZO collaborate in multidisciplinary teams led by project managers, with technical and scientific experts and business development managers, both within NIZO and on the customer side.

 Your profile: 

  • Background in Biomedical or Nutritional Sciences and Immunology. 
  • Proven experience in design and conduct of in vitro and ex vivo cell assays. 
  • Track record in assay development and characterization of immune mechanisms 
  • Experience in food intervention studies is considered a pre. 
  • Fluency in English and preferably a second language. 
  • A flexible and enthusiastic, result-driven, creative team player
