From 14th to 17th of July 2024, Dr. Robyn Eijlander, Science Innovation Manager, and Dr. Karin Beekmann, Project Manager Microbiology, will both give presentations at the IAFP Annual Meeting in California, USA. This meeting provides attendees with information on current and emerging food safety issues, the latest science, innovative solutions to new and recurring problems, and the opportunity to network with thousands of food safety professionals from around the globe.

During this annual meeting, Robyn and Karin will give 3 presentations, organize one session and will join a round table session:

14th of July

On Sunday the 14th of July, Robyn Eijlander is an invited speaker at the AMA (Advanced Molecular Analytics) PDG meeting. She will give a presentation about Nanopore and food safety​: “Application of Nanapore DNA sequencing technology for rapid on-site detection and identification of microbial contaminants in the food chain​“.

15th of July

Robyn Eijlander will also join the Round Table discussion of Monday the 15th of July: “Don’t let it happen again! Avoiding another GIANT recall in aseptically packaged foods and beverages“. During this session, Robyn will add her insight on dealing with bacterial spore formers in ingredients and how hydration of ingredients influences thermal inactivation of spores

16th of July

On July 16th Robyn Eijlander will organize the symposium session “Predicting the unpredictable; how translatable are available microbial models for risk assessment in plant-based foods?”. During this session, Karin Beekmann will give a presentation about “Spore heat resistance and cardinal growth values of microbial contaminants from plant-based ingredients“.
