The food we eat strongly influences immune function, microbiota composition and the crosstalk between both.
I am fascinated by the interaction between food (ingredients) and health. After gaining my PhD at Utrecht University, in the field of Nutrition and Immunity, my activities have focussed on studying the effect of specific food components on gut health and immunity.
Together with our customers the NIZO health team studies the health benefits of food components, using in vitro models (e.g. digestion models, microbial fermentation models, gut and immune cell models), combinations of the various in vitro models, or clinical trials.
