From 6th to 8th of May 2025, Marjon Wells-Bennik, Principal Scientist Food Safety, and Dr. Karin Beekmann, Project Manager Microbiology, will both give presentations at the IAFP Annual Meeting in Madrid, Spain. This meeting provides attendees with information on current and emerging food safety issues, the latest science, innovative solutions to new and recurring problems, and the opportunity to network with thousands of food safety professionals from around the globe.

During this annual meeting, Marjon and Karin will give 3 presentation and organize one session:

  • 6th of May: During the technical session Modeling and Risk Assessment, Karin will give a presentation about Plant-based micro cheese model for assessment of clostridium outgrowth.
  • 7th of May: Marjon will organize the symposium session “Novel food proteins – safety aspects to consider”. During this session, Karin will give a presentation about Dairy proteins produced by precision fermentation – Safety aspects and hazard analysis of a large scale production process“.
  • 8th of May: During the session Whole genome sequencing in food safety: Technological advances, challenges, and industry perspective, Marjon will give a presentation about “Exploring the feasibility of in-house sequencing-based characterization: A case on salmonella and cocoa product“.
