Secretary Van Dam (Economic Affairs) signed on June 22, with food producers and knowledge institutions, a statement on the launch of the Sustainable Food Initiative.
The statement is aimed at research into sustainable solutions for future food demand. The goal is for food production to be climate neutral in the long run. The initiative is widely supported by companies, knowledge institutions and governments. The statement is important for the sustainability of food production: sufficient, safe, healthy and sustainable food for all. The initiators, Unilever, Wageningen UR, the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology and Top Institute Food and Nutrition, have chosen Wageningen UR’s campus as a physical hub where researchers and innovators from all over the world will work together and innovate.
