Within personal care a growing trend is the use of natural ingredients. Numerous companies have strengthened their global presence in the natural cosmetics industry. In addition, personal care companies are focusing increasingly on the role of the microbiome in for example skin care – especially now that evidence is growing for the beneficial contribution of microorganisms to prevention and treatment of skin disorders. At NIZO we have a strong track record in modulation of such microbiomes.

Also in the pharmaceutical industry large companies and capital investors are increasingly investing in the microbiome domain. Initiatives are being set up to elucidate the role of the microbiome in metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. At NIZO we specialise in modulation of microbiota related to several of these diseases. Our unique collaboration with Medimetrics with regard to the IntelliCap® technology for sampling the small intestine underlines our expertise in this field.
