Following up on our previous work on how infant gut microbiota is impacted by dietary iron, NIZO just published a new paper in the European Journal of Nutrition. This publication is in coorporation with Sabuktagin Rahman of Griffith University. He as leading author (and the team from Griffith University and University of Dhaka) publishes about the role of iron on infant gut microbiota. And more specific, about testing the effect of low iron micronutrient powder (MNP) on prevention of childhood anemia and document it’s side effects in population largely iron replete from drinking the ground water source.

This is another example of our state of the art next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics expertise providing insight into complex microbial communities in health and disease.
