Our Project Manager Fermentation, Erwin Berendsen will give a presentation on the second day of the event at 15.10, during the track Early stage clinical design & development, entitled ‘Culturing and Scale up of Live Biotherapeutic Products‘. In his presentation, Erwin Berendsen will discuss the translation of the culturing, processing and formulation of bacteria from lab to production scale. He will also explain the expertise of NIZO which enables the optimization of the production of these next generation probiotics or live biotherapeutic products. Based on NIZO’s heritage in dairy fermentation, raw material knowledge and microbial hygiene (bacilli and clostridia), NIZO has been working with gut bacteria and skin commensals since 2010. Over time NIZO has become an expert in the production of these live biotherapeutic products and now uses unique technologies to optimize and scale the production process even for the most challenging probiotics.
