Business Intelligence & Upstream Marketing Manager
As a Business Intelligence/ Upstream Marketing Manager, you will contribute to NIZO’s mission by defining, identifying and proposing new opportunities and putting together the right sustaining programs to expand and grow our current portfolio. The Upstream Marketing function continuously seeks answers to these two major questions:
- Where is the market going?
- What do customers want next (including and beyond NIZO’s current portfolio)?
You will interface closely with Sales, Innovation, R&D & Downstream Marketing teams to establish potential for revenue & profit growth This role requires the ability to identify unmet customer needs, monitoring of new and existing markets, competitive & technological dynamics/trends, as well as demographic factors to capitalize on the market.
Work intimately with relevant external and internal stakeholders in identifying unmet customer needs for new product/business opportunities and assist in developing product/service concepts for existing customers and/or new markets. This involves understanding the customer need, market dynamics, competitive landscape, translating scientific needs & developments to a product/service.
Set up a business intelligence architecture to gather and streamline knowledge management in a consistent and accessible way to deliver high quality management information.
Perform and/or outsource market research and benchmark competitive portfolios.
Define future product/service portfolio strategy: formulate and continuously review plans, goals, and objectives for NIZO’s future (hence long-range) portfolio offerings: work jointly with other functions such as the Innovation team to establish new product/service offerings.
Foster and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders in the relevant spaces of interest.
Collaborate with R&D, Downstream marketing and Sales to implement portfolio innovation and commercialization plan: represent marketing on cross-functional teams for product/service development projects by channeling customer feedback or input to various attributes during concept and development phase(s). Ensure that the must-have features are identified and included in the development cycle, the launch plan and continually test the new product/service in development with end-users.
Develop and manage long-term platform life cycle, including analyses to support product line changes: new product development or acquisition or discontinuation.
Determines the viability and profitability of new products/services and/or product/service enhancements.
Represent organization as a primary contact for new product marketing.
Travel requirement: 20-30%.
MSc in Life Sciences.
Minimum of 10-15 years of business experience is required (ideal candidate will have a blend of R&D and Upstream Marketing or Upstream & Downstream Marketing or Sales).
Minimum of 5-10 year of experience in successful new product/market introductions within one or more of NIZO’s expertises.
Proven track record in managing market research & defining new concepts.
