Project Manager – Plant Protein Technology

Since our customers have great interest in developing more sustainable food products and corresponding ingredients you will be involved in a large variety of challenges and research questions where plant proteins play an important role. You are comfortable with that because, as the protein transition is a crucial step towards a sustainable food system, you understand the fundamentals of protein behaviour and fundamentals behind the role they play in food products. Therefore, you can deliver the required solutions in this role.

Developing dairy mimics (plant-based products) is a rapidly growing area where you will be working in, as well as in developing meat replacers, plant protein ingredients and other products. Translating and using protein knowledge together with the other experts on plant proteins allows you to help our customers with their challenges towards developing more sustainable plant based products.

Your role

  • Initiate, supervise and participate in research and development projects in the area of plant protein functionality within a wide range of protein sources, food products and food industries;
  • Translate customer needs into scientific and technological approaches that will deliver practical solutions;
  • Safeguard the scientific quality in commercial projects and lead the strategic science development relevant for the industry.
  • Continuously investing in new science and technology about plant proteins ranging from extraction, characterisation and application in various food categories

Who you are

  • A practical, enthusiastic and pro-active, internationally recognized professional who can translate science into practice;
  • PhD in (Bio)chemistry and/or Food Technology related to proteins or equivalent;
  • Several years of research experience in the food industry and/or food ingredients business;
  • Expertise in the area of plant protein science and technology;
  • Driven by understanding, creative and conceptual thinker.
